Guitarshelf for guitar teachers
Homework given out verbally or scribbled on a scrap of paper gets lost between lessons, and teacher tracking apps are often too heavy for such occasional use. On Guitarshelf, you compose the exercise, get a link, and your student opens it — no account, nothing to install, and you keep full control over what they receive.
How it works
- 1. Compose
Add one or more exercises: a text instruction, a chord grid you invent yourself, or a catalog sheet enriched with your own instruction.
- 2. Share
A link is generated, containing the whole homework content — nothing is stored anywhere else. Send it by SMS, email or messaging: the student opens it without installing anything or creating an account.
- 3. Follow up / print
The student can check off finished exercises and send you back a reply link. You can also print the homework, with a tracking sheet ready for several lessons, or reopen a previous send for the following week.
Three ways to prepare an exercise
Depending on what your student needs, homework can take one of these three forms — or combine them:
A text instruction alone
No grid or sheet needed: sometimes a clear instruction is enough ("play slowly, 10 minutes a day, no metronome"). Handy for a reminder, a technical correction, or something you noticed in class.
A custom chord grid
Freely compose a progression with the chords of your choice, a suggested tempo, and a strumming pattern. Useful for a tailor-made exercise the catalog doesn't quite cover.
A catalog sheet, with your instruction
Reuse an existing Guitarshelf sheet (chords, scales, rhythm, improvisation…) and add your own instruction on top of it, specific to this student. The sheet's full content displays normally inside the homework.
What you can actually do
- Multi-sheet notebook : Gather several catalog sheets into a personal notebook, printable as a PDF for a student or a lesson.
- Per-sheet notes : In a shared notebook, add a short instruction specific to each sheet, on top of a free label for the whole set.
- Printable tracking sheet : Every printed homework includes a table of lessons to check off and a signature/date line, separate from the on-screen preview.
- Student reply link : The student checks off what they've done and can generate their own link with their progress, to send back to you if they choose.
- Reopen a previous send : Reload an already-generated homework into the composer to tweak it and resend it the following week, without retyping everything.
- Teacher or studio name : Add it at the top of the homework the student receives — a purely cosmetic field, never verified or required.

Frequently asked questions
Does my student need to create an account to receive homework?
No: no account is needed, neither for you nor for your student. The whole homework content is encoded directly in the link you share.
Does the homework link expire?
No, there's no expiration: the link stays valid as long as whatever it references still exists on the site (a catalog sheet, very rarely renamed). Keep it if you want to reuse it.
Can I correct homework after sending it?
You can't edit a link that's already been sent (nothing is stored on the server), but you can reload it into the composer to tweak it and generate a new link to resend.
Can I track what my student has done?
To some extent: the student can check off completed exercises in their homework, then generate their own reply link to send you. Nothing is sent automatically — it's always their choice to send it back.
Can I print the homework?
Yes. Every homework shows a print button, and the printed version adds a tracking sheet (a table of lessons to check off) that isn't shown on screen.
