This PDF guide makes a single scale say something: the E minor pentatonic. Five notes (E, G, A, B, D), two per string, and ten sheets to get more out of it than a ladder you climb up and down.

Ten uses of the same scale

  • Week 1 — The box: position 1 of E minor in both directions, always knowing where you are relative to the root.
  • Week 2 — Making notes sing: bend, vibrato, slide and legato, four expressive moves practised on notes of the scale (for example, fret 3 of the B string bent a whole tone reaches the root).
  • Week 3 — Leaving the ladder: the same notes with string skips, then an ending lick that closes a phrase.
  • Week 4 — Improvising: first a single note over the blues progression, then the whole scale over Em-C-G-D with the moves you have learned.

Why stay in E

Every sheet stays in the same key: your hand has a single map to remember, and your attention can go to what really changes from one sheet to the next, the way the notes are played.

What the PDF adds to the online sheets

It is not just a collection of the site's sheets. The guide explains its order (shape, then sound, then movement, then playing), offers a week-by-week practice plan and adds, for each sheet, its place in the path and a tip specific to the guide. Every sheet also links back to its online version.

Two versions of the same guide

The A4 version suits reading on a computer and printing. The eBook version has 108 × 144 mm pages (3:4 ratio) designed for 7-inch e-readers (Kobo, Kindle, Boox…), with enlarged text and diagrams; it stays readable on phones and tablets. The content is identical, only the layout differs.

Who is it for?

Guitarists who know position 1 of the pentatonic but only get climbs and descents out of it. Plan on one sheet per session, and save each expressive move for the final improvisation.
