Metal in A — arpeggios
The A5, C5, D5 progression played as arpeggios: on a power chord (root and fifth only, no third), arpeggiating doesn't mean picking apart a full chord like on an open chord — it means picking those two notes one after another with a pick, the foundation of the 'gallop' pattern so characteristic of metal riffing.
Tips
Slow down until every note rings clearly before increasing the tempo.
