Metal in A — alternating bass fingerstyle
As with the catalogue's other power-chord families, a power chord has only one bass string: the 'alternating bass' here simply follows the chord changes. The thumb therefore traces the mirror pattern already noted on this grid (the last two chords swapped between halves), with no extra alternation within a held chord.
Tips
Don't look for a bass alternation within a single held chord: on a power chord, there's only one bass string available.
Break the grid into two halves of four chords, as with its other versions: the thumb follows this same mirror pattern.
Keep the thumb perfectly steady on the bass notes before worrying about the fingers: it's what holds the whole pattern's tempo.
