Drop D riff — palm mute groove in D (advanced variant) New

Level 4 rock Drop D ~115 BPM

Same tight palm muting as the basic version, but here the chord changes on every beat (D5d-G5d-D5d-E5d-G5d-D5d-E5d-D5d) instead of holding each chord for two beats: the fretting hand has to slide the barre from one chord to the next without ever releasing the palm pressure on the low strings.

Tips

Keep the Drop D barre in constant contact with the three low strings while you shift: it's the slide, not a jump, that keeps the palm mute effective from one chord to the next.
