Rock in D (Drop D) — muted strums
On D5d, all 3 strings ring open: muting this chord depends entirely on the palm, with no help at all from the left hand. On G5d and E5d, by contrast, the one-finger barre can ease its pressure slightly to help with the muting, on top of the palm. So D5d, the simplest chord to play normally, is here the hardest one to mute cleanly.
Tips
On D5d, work the palm position on its own, without relying on the left hand, which has no role here.
On G5d and E5d, try easing the barre's pressure slightly at the moment of muting, alongside the palm.
Compare the sound of all three muted chords: it should stay identical, even though the technique to get there differs.
