Strumming — slow ballad pattern New
A sparse pattern, with three rests over eight beats, applied to the G-D-Em-C progression at a slow tempo: ideal for a ballad, where the space between strokes matters as much as the strokes themselves.
Tips
Resist the urge to fill in the rests: it's precisely that empty space that gives the pattern its ballad character rather than a standard pop rhythm.
Strumming pattern
D = downstroke, U = upstroke, — = the arm keeps moving without touching the strings.
